The wide variety of information floating around in the network comes in various forms. Without a suitable module, it can be lost. Therefore, there is a need for a device known as the media gateway. It is a network element that transforms data streams as the information travels from one element to the next. However, in order to integrate this device into the network, one needs the Media Gateway Approval in India.
India’s telecommunication sector is now going through a transformation. As a result, more types of data streams now exist in the network than before. A media gateway device is necessary to transform these streams and prevent data loss.
However, not everyone can establish such a device because:
Therefore, one can state that in order to prevent the sanctity of the telecom sector, the DOT has mandated Media Gateway Approval in India.
As per the rules of the Department of Telecommunication, the following are the entities eligible for Media Gateway Approval in India:
ISP licensees are Internet Service Providers that establish a traditional service centre to provide internet services to the clients. Existing in three categories based on the areas they cover – category A, category B and Category C – these licensees require a media gateway to ensure their subscribers are able to stream the data properly when connected to their networks.
VNO Licensees are another class of internet service providers that rely more on virtual networks and less on infrastructure to provide internet services to their subscribers. They also have three categories and require a media gateway to ensure that data can properly transform when going through their virtual network to the real one.
Broadcasters are entities with licenses from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. They are high-profile service providers that rely on optimized media gateway devices so that the right content can reach the right stops at the right time and with the right quality.
OSPs or Other Service Providers are the first beneficiaries of India’s telecom industry. Providing a wide variety of services ranging from BPO, KPO, LPO, RPO and more, these companies make use of a media gateway to ensure that every process outsourcing project retains the quality and identity of the data.
Once the applicant has met these requirements, he must collect the documents required to proceed.
To establish a media gateway device, the documents required are as follows:
This is the document that you use to convince the DOT why you need to establish a media gateway device.
The application for the media gateway approval cannot be filed online. Therefore, the applicant must manually fill out and submit the application offline.
Present a copy of the telecom license agreement to show that you’re eligible for the license.
It is a critical document that shows that you’re a registered business entity.
The memorandum of association entails the objectives of the company. This document should justify the reason you need a media gateway device in your network.
The media gateway approval should come under the Trusted List of DOT.
Media gateway approval is a critical business license for those who wish to ensure that the data doesn’t lose its effectiveness as it traverses through the network.
