What is APEDA?

The Agricultural & Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (also known as APEDA) is a government authority set up in 1985 via an act for the development and promotion of the export of planned products. Hereby, products listed under the APEDA ACT are known as scheduled products, and exporters of such scheduled products are entitled to seek APEDA registration by getting an APEDA license to function.

How to seek APEDA Registration?

To get under APEDA, the person is required to submit an application form within a month from the date of the commencement of the business. If the exporter of scheduled products doesn’t register under APEDA within the specific time period, the extension of the period can only be done by the Authority. Once the duly filed application is submitted and the prescribed amount is deposited by the applicant, the authority will release a Registration -Cum- Membership- Certificate (RCMC). This APEADA registration is a one-time activity and all the registered members are supposed to abide by the rules & regulations stated under the APEDA Act.

 

Documents Required To Get APEDA Export Licence

  • To seek an APEDA license, the application needs to furnish the following documents.
  • Application Form for the APEDA Registration
  • Copy of the Import-Export Code provided by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade.
  • Bank Certificate that is duly signed by the respective authorities.
  • Account statement for the last two months of the organization’s corporate bank account.
  • Cancelled Cheque

APEDA Registration Process

Below is the detailed procedure for how to seek an APEDA license by scheduled product exporters in India.

  • Login to the APEDA Website and visit the “Register as Member” section
  • Enter the required details like Email ID, IE CODE, & Mobile number and click submit
  • An OTP will be sent by E-mail and mobile number; enter the same on the verification screen and click on Submit.
  • Once the verification is done, fill in the online application and provide the required documents. Please note that the
  • documents should be available in JPEG, PDF, or PNG versions only.
  • Online applications can be submitted in one or more sessions by coming back to the website using the given OTP. After the information is entered in the corresponding fields, save the data. The data entered can be changed only before the online payment.
  • The registration charges are Rs. 5000/- without taxes and can be deposited through any of the following modes: a) Credit Card(MasterCard and Visa), b) Debit Card (MasterCard and Visa), c) Demand draft in favor of “APEDA” payable with a particular city
  • Once the payment is done, an application number will come up. Keep this application number as it would be needed for future reference.
  • After the release of RCMC, Login detail will be forwarded to the registered email of the applicant. The applicant can choose to login into their account through the “Exporter Login” link present on the APEDA website.
  • Status of the RCMC application can be checked by clicking the “Track Application” link by providing the IE Code and Application number before its issuance.
  • If there is a problem in the APEDA license application the exporter will have to check and resubmit the document digitally.
  • The eventual task is to get the sanction of RCMC from APEDA authority and once it is granted the Certificate can be obtained through APEDA Login under the “View RCMC Certificate” section available under RCMC Menu.
