The PM Vishwakarma is a Central Sector Scheme launched by the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises. It is launched to provide holistic and end-to-end support to artisans and craftspeople through access to collateral-free credit, skill training, modern tools, incentives for digital transactions and market linkage support. Also, it encouraged the artisans and craftspeople of the 18 trades to enrol in the scheme and get benefits. The list of the artisans and craftspeople are as follows:

Objectives of PM Vishwakarma Scheme
The following are benefits of PM Vishwakarma Yojana are as follows:
- To enable the recognition of artisans and craftspeople as Vishwakarma, making them eligible to avail all the benefits under the Scheme.
- To provide skill upgradation to hone their skills and make relevant and suitable training opportunities available.
- To support better and modern tools to enhance their capability, productivity, and quality of products and services.
- To provide the beneficiaries easy access to collateral-free credit and reduce the cost of credit by giving interest subvention.
- To provide incentives for digital transactions to encourage digital empowerment of Vishwakarma.
- To provide a platform for brand promotion and market linkages to help them access new opportunities for growth.
Benefits of the Scheme to Artisans and Crafts Persons
The PM Vishwakarma scheme provides the following benefits to artisans and crafts persons:
- Get recognition through PM Vishwakarma certification and ID card.
- Chance to upgrade the skills through basic training of 5-7 days and advanced training of 15 days or more with a stipend of Rs. 500 per day.
- Toolkit incentive to upto Rs. 15,000 in the form of e-vouchers at the beginning of the basic skill training.
- Collateral-free loan of upto Rs. 3 lakhs as an “Enterprise Development Loan” in two parts of Rs. 1 lakh and Rs. 2 lakh with tenure of 18 months and 30 months.
- Amount of Re. 1 per digital transaction, upto a maximum of 100 transactions monthly credit to the beneficiary’s account for each digital pay-out or receipt.
- Marketing support is provided in the form of quality certification, branding, onboarding on e-commerce platforms such as GeM, advertising, publicity and other marketing activities to improve linkage to the value chain.
Who is Eligible for the Scheme?
The following people will get the above-mentioned benefits in the PM Vishwakarma Scheme:
- An artisan or craftsperson working with hands and tools and engaged in one of the family-based traditional trades in the unorganized or informal sector is eligible for PM Vishwakarma Yojana registration.
- The minimum age of the beneficiary must be 18 years on the date of registration.
- The beneficiary must engage in the trades concerned on the date of registration and did not have availed loans under similar credit-based schemes of the Central Government or State Government. Taking business loans for self-employment/ business development, for instance, PMEGP, PM SVANidhi, MUDRA, in the past 5 years.
- The beneficiaries of MUDRA and SVANidhi who have fully repaid their loan are eligible under PM Vishwakarma. This period of 5 years is calculated from the date of sanction of the loan.
- Only one member of the family can avail the benefits. For availing benefits under the Scheme, a ‘family’ is defined as consisting of the husband, wife and unmarried children.
- A person in government service and his/her family members are not eligible under the Scheme.
How to Apply Online for Vishwakarma Yojana?
The PM Vishwakarma scheme is a holistic scheme and envisages providing end-to-end support to the artisans and craftspeople in scaling up their products and services and professional well-being. The PM Vishwakarma Yojana registration process is as follows:
- To apply for the scheme get an application form through CSCs or look for an open online application through the Aadhaar-based biometric authenticated Pradhan Mantri Vishawakarma portal.
- The beneficiaries have two options to apply, either directly or with the help of the CSCs through Village Level Entrepreneurs (VLEs) or Enumerators.
- In the third step, the CSCs will provide handholding support to the beneficiaries to get the benefits of the scheme.
- Beneficiaries will furnish their Aadhaar-seeded bank account details at the time of application. This account is used for availing monetary benefits under the Scheme.
- At every stage of intervention under this Scheme, Aadhaar authentication will be mandatory. Aadhaar authentication will be done through biometrics by CSCs.
- A link will be provided under the Udyam Assist Portal which is a registration portal for Informal Micro Enterprises who do not have PAN. Also, the applicants who have PAN can register on the Udyam Registration Portal for MSMEs.
- The beneficiaries will be encouraged to onboard on the GeM Portal and for this, the scheme will be widely advertised on the portal. So, this supports to Vishwakarma scheme in getting access to the market and making the products available for public procurement.
- After the submission and approval process of the application by the beneficiary. It follows by a three-step verification which, if successfully completed will lead to PM Vishwakarma Yojana registration.
Note: A multi-lingual helpline will be available on the portal so that everyone across the country will complete the registration process without any language barrier.
Documents for Registration on PM Vishwakarma Portal?
The following are the documents that are required during the registration on the PM Vishwakarma portal:
- The beneficiary needs to produce documents such as an Aadhar Card, mobile number, bank details, and ration card mandatorily for the registration.
- In case a beneficiary does not have a ration card, he/she can produce the Aadhaar numbers of all family members. (Para 4 (iv) of the guidelines on Eligibility may be referred to for definition of family).
- If a beneficiary does not have a bank account, he/she should open a bank account first for which handholding will be done by CSC.
- The beneficiary is required to provide additional documents or information as per the requirement.

Conclusion
To conclude, this scheme will onboard the beneficiaries on the Udyam Assist Platform as ‘entrepreneurs’ in the formal MSME ecosystem. And, this will be done through Common Service Centres with Aadhaar-based biometric authentication on the PM Vishwakarma portal. The enrolment process will include the three-step verification process, these steps include:
- Verification at Gram Panchayat/ ULB level.
- Vetting and Recommendation by the District Implementation Committee.
- Approval by the Screening Committee.
Once all these steps are completed, the beneficiary will get the certification and ID card of the PM Vishwakarma Scheme.
