Surveyor Registration on IRDAI BAP Portal

If you want to become an insurance surveyor, you must apply for surveyor registration on the IRDAI Business Analytics Project (BAP) portal. The process for Business Analytics Project (BAP) portal registration for surveyors takes place in the following manner.

1. Checking Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for becoming an insurance surveyor, an individual must have a degree or diploma in engineering, or be a qualified chartered accountant or be a member of the Insurance Institute of India.

Additionally, they must complete a one-year training period under a senior surveyor, pass the online exam conducted by the Insurance Institute of India (III), obtain a Training Completion Certificate from the trainer. Only after this, they can apply for an Insurance surveyor license with the IRDAI to become a registered insurance surveyor.

For more information, you can refer to Schedule I, Annexure 1 of IRDAI (Insurance Surveyors & loss Assessors) Regulation, 2015, which outlines the qualification criteria for enrollment and licensing of surveyor and loss assessors.

2. Filing Enrollment Application

The applicant must log on to the official IRDA BAP registration portal, and create User ID and Password. After creating credentials, they must log in the portal and submit an enrolment application along with the relevant documents with IRDAI on the Business Analytics Project (BAP) portal.

Documents Required for Enrollment

As per IRDAI, the following documents are required for registering as a surveyor on Business Analytics Project portal:

3. Examination

Once the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority approves the enrolment application, and the candidate’s name gets included in the list of eligible candidates for III exam, the applicant can register themself for the said examination.

It is necessary to pass the exam to become an insurance surveyor. If the candidate fails the exam, they’ll have to retake it and pass it.

4. Training

Once a candidate successfully passes the exam for insurance surveyor, they can then begin training based on the option they picked during their initial enrollment i.e., either “Training under a Surveyor” (on-the-job learning with a senior surveyor) or “Institutional Training”.

For this, they must pick a trainer. Once the Trainer accepts the training request, the applicant must fill out form-13 for training course enrollment. The Insurance Surveyor Trainee must complete the requisite training before they can apply for the Surveyor and Loss Assessor license.

After the applicant has successfully completed his training, he or she will receive the TCC, i.e., the Training Completion Certificate, from the Trainer’s end.

5. Fresh License Application & Issuance of License

After completing the training, the applicant becomes eligible for the next step i.e., filing application for fresh surveyor license. This application must be filled with accurate details, and all the important documents need to be submitted along with it on the IRDAI Business Analytics Project portal. Once the applicant receives the IRDAI license, he or she can start operating as a licensed Surveyor in the Insurance sector.

After fulfilling all the aforementioned steps, you can complete IRDAI BAP portal registration for surveyors easily!
