1. Tata Steel

2. Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL)

SAIL is a government-owned steel company and is India's largest state-owned steel producer. A policy was drafted by the Ministry of Steel and Mines to evolve a new model of managing industry. On 2nd December, 1972, this policy was presented to the Indian Parliament. On this basis the concept of creating a holding company to manage inputs and outputs under one umbrella was put forward. 

As a result, Steel Authority of India Ltd. was established in January, 1973. It was tasked with managing steel plants at Bhilai, Bokaro, Durgapur, Rourkela and Burnpur. Since its formation, SAIL has contributed to the country’s industrial development and also development of technical and managerial skills.

3. Visa Steel

It has a 1.5 million ton integrated special and stainless steel manufacturing plant. Visa Steel’s registered office is located in Bhubaneswar, while its corporate office is located in Kolkata.

Visa steel owns three steel manufacturing plants and has established a 150,000 TPA Ferro Chrome Plant as well. A part of this steel company’s capabilities are six submerged Arc Furnaces with 3*25 MW Power Generating Units.

4. Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL)

Another government-owned steel company in our list of best steel companies in India is Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL). Also known as Vizag Steel, RINL is the government entity of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, which is the country’s first ever shore-based integrated steel plant with modern technology. The plant is a 7.3 MTPA plant and was commissioned in 1992 with a capacity of MTPA liquid steel.

5. JSW Steel

JSW Steel's manufacturing unit based out of Vijayanagar (Karnataka) is the largest single-location steel-producing facility in the country and comes with a capacity of 12 MTPA. 6. ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India Ltd

Mideast Integrated Steels Limited is a public company incorporated in 1992. Its registered office is located in New Delhi, India. It is one of the top 10 steel companies in India. In 1997, the company obtained Rodia iron ore mining lease in the primary iron ore belt situated in Odisha. 

The company has two 389 cubic meter blast furnaces in Kalinga Nagar in Odisha. MISL formed a pig iron factory at Jajpur in 2005 and the factory is still in operation. For marketing and funding, the steel company has partnered with UK-based Stemcor.

10. Godawari Power & Ispat Ltd.

A subsidiary of Hira Group (Raipur), Godawari Power & Ispat is one of the top 10 steel manufacturing companies in India. The primary businesses of the company include energy generating, iron ore mining and sponge iron manufacture.

51.4 percent of RR Group’s stock is purchased by Godawari Power. The company also bought all of the equity in Krishna Minerals Ltd., which is still in the early phases of mineral and mine exploration. It employs a large number of technicians and operates steel facilities in Odisha.
