Copyright for Unpublished Work
Under Indian Copyright Laws, the creative piece owner can register both its published and unpublished works. The copyright applicant must send two copies of unpublished work along with the application. Also, the applicant must attach and send a copy of the manuscript along with the application. Finally, he must affix the stamp of the Copyright Office as proof of the registered work.
The Registrar will return one copy of the same duly stamped. But, he will retain the other one in the Copyright Office for record and keep it confidential. The Registrar will keep it open to the applicant to send only extracts from the unpublished work rather than the whole manuscript. Consequently, he will ask to return the extracts after the Copyright Office stamps them with the seal.
