What is an ISP License?
ISP or internet service providers need to obtain a specific license to be authorized to provide Internet services. It is called ISP License or Unified License. It's provided by the Department of Telecommunication to use Data Subscriber Lines (DSL). It is divided in the 3 categories depending upon the regions in which the internet service can be provided.

Eligibility Criteria
The following are the eligibility criteria that must be satisfied by the applicant to apply for the license:
- A Unified License is issued only to an Indian company, registered under the Companies Act, 1956.
- No individual/ sole proprietorship/ partnership concern is eligible to obtain an ISP authorization. Licenses are issued ONLY to a registered company.

- Information sheet in the prescribed format
- Certificate Of Incorporation of the Company
- Memorandum of Association and Articles of Association of the company.
- Processing fee (Non refundable)
- Power of attorney of the person signing the ISP application
- Details of the directors/promoters/shareholders of the company
- Certificate of total equity detail.
- Foreign equity approval certificate by the government of India
- Address of the registered office
- Board resolution regarding statutory auditor appointment.
