As per the GST notification issued on 26th August 2019, the last date of filing the GST annual returns has been extended to 30th November 2019.
The government has given this extension to GST registrants who have to file GSTR-9: filed by those whose annual turnover is more than INR 2 Crore.
The finance ministry has extended the deadline to file the annual GST return because many taxpayers are facing technical difficulties furnishing their returns. However, it’s, it’s not the first time the date has been extended. Before now, the deadline was till date 31st August, which was an extended one from 31st July.
In its statement, the CBIC has said. “It is hereby informed that the last date for furnishing of annual return in the Form GSTR-9 and reconciliation statement in the form GSTR-9C for the financial year 2017-18 is extended from August 31st, 2019 to November 30, 2019. “
GST-9 is a mandatory return for GST registered taxpayers with annual turnover more than INR 2 Crore. The return consists of details of outward and inward supplies made or received under different tax headings.
Even if the ministry has extended the GST annual return deadline, you shouldn’t wait around till the last date. File your GST annual returns now and have a peace of mind.
