The steel-import details to be registered on SIMS include the name of the importer, the steel’s country of origin, the quantity of steel to be imported, and the entry port. Importers are required to register online on SIMS portal at least 60 days before the expected arrival of the steel and no later than 15 days before.
The steel import monitoring system has the following objectives:

SIMS helps in collection of data pertaining to steel import. Further, it helps in analysis of data which streamlines the policy-making process.
Additionally, it allows real-time information which assists in monitoring the imports in the country.
It promotes transparency in the steel import industry, as it provides an obvious framework for monitoring metallic imports and reduces the chances for fraud. It makes sure that every transaction is documented because it ought to be.
SIMS ensures that imported steel meets critical excellent standards. This improves the reliability and performance of your goods.
